Fall is in the air! Pumpkin spice lattes, comfy sweaters, and the smell of cinnamon flood the senses and make us feel perennial contentment. One of the things that we love most about this season is the generosity that simply saturates every corner of life. From Thanksgiving volunteerism to Toys for Tots, from Jewish Tzedakah to Islamic Sadaqah, the sense of community and giving back is the most beautiful aspect of the season. Born out of our natural generosity is Giving Tuesday! On the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we turn from seeking gifts for family and friends to finding ways to give back to our community. Wesley House has several ways you can give back. Check out our Giving Tuesday page or continue reading below to learn more! 1) Donate Time One of the most impactful ways to help your community is to volunteer for a cause about which you are passionate. Your donated time often makes our programs possible! At Wesley House, you can volunteer in a variety of ways including being a mentor, tutor, or pantry volunteer. Learn more on our Giving Tuesday page . . . 2) Spread the Word Raising awareness or being an advocate for a nonprofit you love can be more valuable than money! This is an amazing type of volunteerism that you can do from the comfort of your home with a phone, tablet, or computer. Learn all that you can about a cause or nonprofit, then start telling everyone how important it is to do the same. Bonus points if you can get your friends and family to make a donation! Check out our social feeds! Our handle is @sdwesleyhouse. 3) Donate Money The most immediate, most impactful way to support a charity you love is by making a gift that is meaningful to you. Plus, with online giving, it’s easier than it has ever been. Bonus: consider signing up to make a monthly donation! Smaller gifts spread out across the year mean bigger support for us and deeper impact for you. Interested in supporting Wesley House? Check out our support page! BONUS SUPPORT METHOD Make an in-kind gift! This means donating an item or service that has a cash value. Don’t worry, it’s still tax deductible! Wesley House is always in need of donated food to stock our food pantry, and you don’t even have to scrounge through your cupboards for those cans of pumpkin and jars of olives you will never eat!
