Joe Shumate, Director of Development & Marketing

Joe was raised in San Diego where he began training at age seven for his first career as a professional actor, dancer, and singer. He officially retired from the stage in 2013 after shifting his sights to supporting the San Diego community as a nonprofit professional. Joe brings over 15 years of experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and development. Joe received a B.A. in Dance and Drama from the University of California, Irvine in 2002 and a Master's in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego in 2019. Joe believes in the power of education and right of every person to have access to as much learning as he/she/they desire.
